“We
welcome winds from the four corners of the world, but we should not let

The 19th century could be considered as the culmination in the process of degradation of Sri Lankan nation under foreign rule. The latter half of that century however saw the embers of national consciousness being gradually fanned. An awakening, spear-headed by the local leaders aided by foreign theosophists and in some way by European scholars who were unearthening the valuable yet deeply hidden treasures of this island nation’s history, culture and religion, led to the opening up of Ananda College in 1886.
Ananda College, truly symbolic and representative of the
spirit, and aspirations of the Sri Lankan nation, proudly celebrated her
centenary in 1986. The group of old Anandians, who had the rare privilege to
witness this historic celebration as the senior students of this sacred
institution, warmly welcomes you to their official website.
