Introduction
Thousands of Sri Lankan servicemen have sacrificed their lives to protect peace in the country over a period of two decades. It is the bounded duty of all Sri Lankans to appreciate and honour
these true sons of the soil. It is a well known fact that from any one school in Sri Lanka, the highest number of servicemen in all the forces are from Ananda College.
This is why OACG took initiative steps to pay their tribute to those brave old Anandians who sacrificed their lives to safeguard the country.
This ceremony was held at College premises on the 5th December 1998. A distinguished old Anandian and the commander of Sri Lankan Army Lieutenant General Rohan Daluwatte was the chief guest of the ceremony. Senior officers of all three forces and the police participated at this occassion.
Special awards of honour were distributed to the parents of those patriotic old Anandians and a scholarship fund was launched to assist the children of old anandians who died or became disabled in the battle field.
